Honua Kai, the Ritz, the Four Seasons???  That’s where you’ll think you are when you walk through the front door of this amazing penthouse ocean view condominium. 

Except with this classy Kaanapali Shores condo you can save about $200,000 or more compared to those places.

Kaanapali Shores 942 is built for relaxation, enjoyment and entertainment.  When you are not enjoying that view from your lanai accompanied by the sound of the myna birds, you might be enjoying the 37” flat screen HD TV with a DVD player and the overhead surround sound system.

Most of us carry our personal music collection with us on our iPods.  So Tom, the owner, has thoughtfully provided an iPod docking station for you wired to the surround sound system.  Your music will sound great.   

When Tom conceived this renovation he imagined the quality features that he wanted to enjoy on his visits to his Maui home.  His vision went from the ground (floor) up. He started with oversized 18x18 Tuscany Travertine set in a diamond pattern for the foyer, kitchen and bathroom floors.  These gorgeous floors are accented by a 3 inch stone base to make them even more visually appealing.

Storage is at a premium on Maui in general and in a studio condo in particular.  Since it’s nice to have your own space to leave things like boogie boards, some clothing, binoculars, refreshments, etc, he converted nooks and crannies to locking owner’s storage areas.

The space off the entryway is locked off by solid wood Bellagio doors with brushed nickel handles.  He used these same custom doors for the bath, closet and the other storage area. 

The bathroom features the same Travertine floors, but it is finished with a matching 3 foot wainscot that is carried around the room to create a Travertine enclosed tub and shower.  The wainscot is finished with custom tile accents.

The custom tile work is continued in the kitchen with intricate designs and accents in the fully tiled back splash.  The kitchen and island countertops are solid Giallo granite with soft rounded edges.

The cabinets are solid Kraftmaid Mapleton Square cabinetry featuring soft close drawers.  And, in keeping with Maui’s green theme; these solid wood cabinets are KCMA certified as part of the Certified Environmental Stewardship Program.   Some of the cabinets are equipped with locks for additional private storage area.

And this kitchen is a real kitchen.  While lots of studios get equipped with tiny stoves and itsy bitsy refrigerators, this designer made the most of the available space.  This kitchen is decked out with brand new GE stainless steel appliances.   It has a full size stove and oven with an overhead convection microwave.  You get a full size refrigerator with a built in ice maker. 

There are nooks everywhere for spices, canned goods and a bottle of this or that. 

Even the ceilings are beautiful at Kaanapali Shores 942.  The ceiling in the kitchen is soffited to allow for recessed lighting.  Similar soffits are used around the living room to provide excellent lighting for reading and to accommodate the surround sound system.  A little light reading music anyone?

The ceiling is finished off with a decorative arch over the sliding door that leads to the 100 square foot lanai.  Oh, and I almost forgot, the ceiling and the walls have been sanded down, retextured and painted with designer colors.

Being the top floor, end unit has its advantages as well.  Only end units like 942 have a kitchen window for more natural light and a different view.  From the ninth floor you can see the west Maui Mountains and all the way to Kapalua.  You also have more privacy than any other unit on the property.  No one ever has a reason to walk by your front door. You are well away from the noise and activity of the central courtyard and you can even sit outside your front door and enjoy the mountain view if you like.
